Why are the amounts reported on my Upstart investor statements different from what is reported on the Form 1099-INT I received? Which should I use for tax reporting?

There are a couple of possible reasons for it. The investor statements provided by Upstart monthly are intended to be a correct statement of your investment performance and activity at the time of the issuance. However, from time to time, discrepancies do arise or information is corrected. The information reported on Form 1099-INT is the correct amount for income tax purposes and reflects any corrections made throughout the year. Also, your total interest income reported on 1099-INT only includes amounts for investments that distributed $10 or more of interest income during the year.
